The people building Unlocs.
Our story
Unlocs started because we saw car rental operators struggling with fragmented tools — spreadsheets for fleet tracking, separate systems for bookings, no branded customer experience, and no easy way to go digital.
We're building the platform we wish existed: one system for fleet management, bookings, and payments, with a white-label renter app that lets operators own their customer relationship.
We're based in Michigan. Unlocs is a pre-seed stage company currently in beta with early fleet partners.
The team
Joe Hess
President
Joe brings 18+ years of automotive business ownership to Unlocs. He is the Principal Owner of Hess Automotive LLC in Reese, Michigan, and Principal Owner of Fly Drive – MMRC, a Michigan-based vehicle rental operation. Joe leads Unlocs with deep, first-hand knowledge of the fleet operator world the platform is built to serve.

Sean Hart
Vice President
Sean is a technology leader with a 20+ year IT career spanning infrastructure, cloud, and project management. He has held senior roles at Enbridge Gas and Spectra Energy, is Co-Founder of EV Angels, and serves as VP of Systems Development at Electric Vehicle Network. He holds a BMath in Computer Science from the University of Waterloo.

Sohail Suleman
Treasurer
Sohail is an automotive mobility executive and the Founder & CEO of Truqit, an hourly pickup rental service in San Francisco and New York City. He was previously Director of Product Management at Cox Automotive, where he led mobile workforce, fleet logistics, and vehicle reconditioning platforms across 48+ locations nationwide. He holds a BS in Chemical Engineering from Columbia University.

Daniel Hart
Secretary
Daniel is a two-time founder with a track record of successful exits. He was Founder & CEO of Airlist and CEO of Masterkey for 15 years — both acquired by Prosus / OLX Group (dubizzle) in November 2017. He is Co-Founder & Partner at EV Angels and VP of Strategy at Electric Vehicle Network. He holds a BSc in Computer Science and Software Engineering from Western University.
