Unlocs, Inc. ("Unlocs", "we", "us", "our") is a Michigan corporation that provides software for car rental fleet operators and operates the website at unlocs.com. This Privacy Policy describes how we handle personal data collected through the Site.

For personal data we process on behalf of fleet operators through the Unlocs software platform, Unlocs acts as a data processor (or "service provider") under the direction of the fleet operator, governed by a separate data processing agreement. This Privacy Policy does not cover that platform data.

2. What data we collect

Through this website, we may collect:

  • Contact form submissions: name, email address, company name, and message content
  • Analytics data: pages visited, visit duration, referral source, device type, browser, and approximate location (via Google Analytics)
  • Technical data: IP address, user agent, and similar information automatically sent by your browser
  • Cookies: see section 6 below

We do not knowingly collect sensitive personal information — such as health, biometric, or financial data — through this website.

3. How we use your data

We use the data we collect to:

  • Respond to your enquiries and follow up on requests
  • Understand how visitors use our website
  • Improve our website, content, and services
  • Protect the Site from fraud, abuse, and security threats
  • Comply with legal obligations

We do not sell your personal data to third parties, and we do not use it for targeted advertising.

4. Legal basis for processing

Where GDPR or similar laws apply, we process your data based on:

  • Consent: when you submit the contact form
  • Legitimate interest: for website analytics, security, and service improvement
  • Legal obligation: where we are required by law to process or retain data

5. Data retention

We retain contact form submissions for up to 24 months after our last correspondence, unless a longer period is required by law or for an ongoing business relationship. Analytics data is retained per Google Analytics default settings (currently 14 months). We delete or anonymize data that is no longer needed.

6. Cookies and tracking

This website uses cookies and similar technologies for analytics purposes (Google Analytics). These help us understand how visitors interact with our website. You can control cookies through your browser settings; blocking cookies may affect some functionality of the Site.

We do not currently respond to "Do Not Track" browser signals, as there is no industry-standard interpretation of such signals.

7. Sharing your data

We share personal data only with:

  • Service providers who help us operate the Site (see section 9)
  • Legal and regulatory authorities where required by law or to protect our rights
  • Successors in interest in the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets

8. Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your data
  • Object to or restrict processing of your data
  • Request a portable copy of your data
  • Withdraw consent at any time (without affecting prior processing)

California residents have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to delete it, the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, and the right to non-discrimination for exercising these rights. We do not sell or share personal information as defined by the CCPA.

Canadian residents have rights under the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), including access to personal information we hold about them, correction of inaccurate information, withdrawal of consent to future processing (subject to legal or contractual restrictions), and the right to file a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (priv.gc.ca). Where we send commercial electronic messages to Canadian recipients, we comply with Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL), including providing an unsubscribe mechanism and clear sender identification.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at info@unlocs.com. We will respond within the timeframes required by applicable law.

9. Third-party services

  • Google Analytics: website usage analytics
  • Resend: email delivery for contact form submissions
  • Firebase (Google Cloud): website hosting and infrastructure
  • Google reCAPTCHA: spam and bot protection on the contact form

These providers process data on our behalf under their own privacy and security terms.

10. International data transfers

Unlocs is based in the United States and our website is hosted on US-based cloud infrastructure (see section 9). If you access the Site from outside the US — including from Canada — your personal data will be transferred to, stored in, and processed in the United States. Canadian residents should be aware that information protected under PIPEDA will cross the border; we apply contractual and technical safeguards to protect it. For European transfers, where required, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses and equivalent mechanisms.

11. Children's privacy

This Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "last updated" date. Material changes will be highlighted where practical.
